I just read a few articles on the circadian rhythm and caffeine (while drinking my morning coffee) and It turns out that drinking coffee in the mornings isn’t the best thing to do.
In the morning your Cortisol levels are naturally high and caffeine can mess it up in two ways:
- Your body produces less cortisol and relies more on caffeine
- Increases tolerance and creates addiction as it replaces the natural high you get from cortisol
So, when should you drink your coffee?
- Apparently the best time is after your natural cortisol levels dip – in the late morning to early day.
- 2-4 hours after you wake up
